Meet Our Leadership

Jeffrey and Janice Champion
Stake President
President Champion grew up in Edmonton, just across the street from the Bonnie Doon Stake Centre. He answered the call to serve in the Switzerland Geneva Mission, following which he graduated from BYU and then the U of A Faculty of Law and practiced law for thirty five years before being appointed as a judge. Sister Champion was raised in the Willow Park area of Calgary. She was in the Faculty of Education when they married and she now has a Bachelor of Social Work and a Diploma of Social Work, which she completed after raising their children. They are the parents of five children and grandparents of 8 grandchildren (and counting!), all of whom live in the Edmonton area. The Champions love the YSAs and were blessed to serve several years ago when President Champion was the bishop of the Garneau YSA Ward. The calling to work again with the YSAs in the new Edmonton YSA Stake is a tremendous opportunity and they look forward to seeing the many miracles that will happen as the stake works together with all of the young single adults in Edmonton.

Fran and Bob van Bruggen
Stake Presidency 1st Counselor
Fran and Bob van Bruggen have been happily married for 43 years, we both served missions as young adults. Fran in Birmingham England Mission and Bob in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Mission. We also served an adult mission together in Ukraine. We have 4 sons (all happily married to fantastic girls) and 14 amazing grandchildren. Not sure why the Lord gave us the 14 best he had up there. 😉 Their lives have revolved around their church membership and they have loved serving in the church in every calling and have loved being around so many wonderful church members. Serving with the YSA has been like the icing on the cake for them. They love to work and have always found lots of work improving homes and properties where they have lived and business they’ve been involved in. They have always been self employed and having been involved in many ventures have had a lot of variety in their lives. The Lord has never let them down when they put Him first in our lives.
